Breaking News: Real Estate transactions permitted to be conducted statewide in Pennsylvania

Governor Tom Wolf announced today that real estate transactions are permitted to resume, effective immediately, provided that certain precautions are taken throughout the entire Commonwealth. Despite whether a county is in the red or yellow re-opening phase of the Governor’s plan, real estate activities are permitted as long as safety protocols are followed.

More specifically, realtors are permitted to conduct in-person showings, however, showings should be by appointment only and appointments should be staggered to limit exposure of one customer to the next. Homes should be “staged” prior to the showing and all surfaces touched shall be sanitized after each showing. There shall be no group showings or open houses until further notice.

It is encouraged that remote means be utilized as much as possible. If an in-person closing occurs, the settlement shall be scheduled in advance and only the signatories or those required to sign documents shall be present at closing in addition to the settlement agent/attorney handling the closing. Social distancing shall be observed and masks shall be worn at all times by all individuals present.
